To Add an Asset to the AssetWise Datasource

The process is the same for creating an Asset class, regardless of whether it is a Parent, or a Child asset. Follow these steps to add an Asset class to the AssetWise Datasource.
  1. In AssetWise Director, log in to the community.
  2. From the View menu, select System Administration.
    Tip: You can also press F8.
  3. Expand the Classes & Attributes tree.
  4. Expand Tags.
  5. In the Child Classes topic, click New.
  6. Enter a class Code.
    Tip: Select theALL_CAPS_WITH_UNDERSCORE style.
  7. Enter a Name for the class.
    Tip: Select the First Letter Capitalized And Spaces Between Words style.
  8. Click the Save button in the Tool bar.

    The Asset class is saved.

  9. In the Templates topic, click New.
    Important: ALIM requires a template for each object type.
  10. Enter a Name for the template.
  11. Enter a Description for the template.
  12. In the Template Mask, for example HATAG-########
  13. Click the Save button in the Tool bar.

    The template class is saved.

  14. Search for a Physical Item Number to use as the default physical item. For example,
  15. In the Status list, select Approved.
  16. Click the Save button in the Tool bar.

    The template is saved.

You may now add additional Attributes to the Asset class, if required.
